What is Books on the Ground?

Books on the Ground (BOTG) is a Black indie author festival in Houston, TX, created to spotlight, celebrate, and support urban fiction, romance, and Black literary excellence. Expect good books, dope vibes, and unforgettable moments.

Everyone! BOTG is for book lovers, authors, vendors, and anyone who enjoys a culturally rich, community-based experience. Come solo, bring your crew, or pull up with your book club.

Is this a paid event?

Yes. Ticket prices vary by access level (general admission, VIP, etc.). All proceeds go toward event costs, author support, and community giveback initiatives like our back-to-school drive.

Can I bring carts or rolling luggage?

No. To maximize space and minimize hazards, absolutely no carts, wagons, or rolling luggage will be allowed inside the venue. Please plan accordingly. Small bags, totes, and purses are fine, but anything bulky may be denied at the door.

Can I donate or sponsor?

Absolutely. We welcome both personal and business sponsorships. We also accept book donations, branded merch, or financial support via Cash App or Zelle. Sponsorship tiers are available—email us for the full package!

What’s the parking situation?

Valet parking will be available on-site. Please plan to arrive early enough to check in on time, but not before the official start time. Street or self-parking may be limited, so valet parking is highly recommended.

I’m coming from out of town. Any hotel recs?

Yes! We’re compiling a list of recommended hotels and travel tips just for y’all. Stay tuned on our socials and email list for booking info and nearby stay options.

Will there be food & drinks?

Yes! Light food and beverages will be available at select parts of the event. Offerings are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage you to arrive on time to enjoy what’s provided. Outside food is not permitted unless otherwise stated.

What’s the refund policy?

All sales are final. There are no refunds or exchanges on tickets, vendor tables, or sponsorships. Please double-check your availability before purchasing.
